Agree or disagree:  "Our great weariness comes from work not done."  -- Eric Hoffer

  1. Agree - I still ineitably end up procrastinating, but the times when I'm most stressed are those during which there is some form of assignment hanging over my head. When I actually complete the work it rarely requires much energy or causes much stress; however, if the more I put something off the more it gnaws at the back of my mind and the more I attempt to motivate myself to do it, to no avail, and I only get more distraught over it.

  2. I agree with this because when you do not get work done, you feel more stressed and it is like there is more weight on your shoulders. Everyone knows that feeling of getting work done after it has been hanging over your head for awhile. It is a very big relief and it makes you feel accomplished and good. It is the complete opposite for when you do not get your work done.

    1. I agreee with what you're saying. It's a good feeling to know you have something finished. Sometimes when you procrastinate you feel like you've let yourself down. It is a relief and everyone knows that feeling.

  3. I agree with Eric Hoffer. The burden of knowing that I still have work to do is heavier than the burden of acually doing the work. If I have multiple essays looming over me, that are due in a few days, I'm more stressed out from having not done them yet than I would have been if I had already done them. Even while working this is true; at least you are safe in the knowledge that you are getting things done. The stress and weariness of uncompleted work is heavy.

    1. I completely agree with this. I hate having assignments and work haning over my head. I feel so accomplished when I just get everything I need to do, done.

    2. Exactly! Even if you don't fully finish the work, it's still less then what you had to do when you started.

    3. I agree, the thought of the work that needs to be done is often more stressful than the work itself.

  4. I disagree with this quote. I procrastinate work on purpose, if I am doing it and know that its not do until a week from now, I don't fully devote my attention to it. Then in turn it doesn't come out to be the best I could have done if I would have focused on it.

    1. Good point. That's partially why I procrastinate myself. If I'm doing something that isn't due the next day, my mind simply says "why do today what you can put off until tomorrow" and slcks off, possibly abandoning the assignment altogether. I do still get stressed by having undone assignments, though, but that pushes me mentally to get them done and done well the night before - be it a term paper or a few questions for precalc.

  5. I agree with the quote. When a person does not complete a task given to them or a form of work, the work then piles up and the person is overwhelmed, causing stress. The work is constantly there to 'nag' them through everything that person does until it is finished. If the work was completed, a person would not have to worry about finishing it because it would be done. For example, when students recieve homework on the weekend they tend to leave it undone until Sunday. That whole weekend the person is trying to figure out how to place homework within their schedule, making them more stressed. Whereas if a person would of finished it as soon as they got it, they would not become stressed by it or have to worry about finishing it on time.

    1. I am more stressed thinking of all the tasks I should do than if I just went ahead and completed them. This is something I know about myself, but I have to relearn it often.

  6. This statement is true. I always like to have all of my work completed. I feel much better if I can get it done early and relax for a week or so. I can never fully relax if I still have work to do, even if it's just a small assignment. That's why, this summer, I'm going to do all of my summer homework at the beginning of June, instead of the end of August...
