Agree or disagree: "In order that people may be happy in their work, these three things are needed: They must be fit for it. They must not do too much of it. And they must have a sense of success in it." -- John Ruskin

  1. Agree - I loath reading with a passion; however, assignments for, say, Music Theory or Java Programming aren't a chore at all - I would even go so far as to say that I enjoy them since they feed my nerdiness. Work is in the eye of the beholder: when you're fit for and successful in your work and aren't overstretching yourself, it isn't really work at all.

    1. I agree with what you had to say "loajo1015". I also find myself enjoying certain assignments in school if I have an interest in them. Also if I am not good at something, I often get stressed out over it and do not enjoy it. Doing too much of something can wear you out because repeating the same thing over and over gets very dry and boring to me.

  2. I Agree. For someone to like their job, they need to be good at it. If they were not good at it, they would spend all day getting frustrated for not understanding something. Also, if they do too much of their work, they will eventually get tired of doing it. The last point is also true because if they feel successful in their work, they will want to continue doing it.

    1. I completely agree with you because if someone wants to do something for a living, they must enjoy doing it for the rest of their lives. I also believe that someone must like their job to want to be successful at it and pursue it even further throughout their life.

  3. I agree with this quote. Having the ability to do a job doesn't necessarily mean that you are happy with it. If you are not fit for a certain profession, you have no motivation to do well in it. If you overwork yourself, you can become bored and sloppy with it. If you feel unsuccessful, you will find feelings of never being good enough.

  4. I agree with this quote. Just because you can do your job, doesn't mean you like it. You have to be able to do the job or you will just struggle with it, but you also need to enjoy doing it. If you don't feel as if you have accomplished something, you won't have the want to keep doing it because you will feel like you failed. If you constantly do too much of the same work, you'll get sick of it and it could lead to your performance becoming worse and worse.

  5. I agree. How many people are actually happy with their job? Even if they like their job, they will still complain about the amount of work. If their job does not require much effort or have much work, they will complain that they are bored, feel unsuccessful and limited. If a person is "fit" for their job, they do not have to do too much work, and feel successful, then a person will feel happy in their work.
