Agree or disagree: "The secret of greatness is simple: do better work than any other (person) in your field -- and keep on doing it." -- Wilfred A. Peterson
I agree with this quote because in my own experiences it is true. The person who is in charge has the power to reward you for good work and punish you for bad work. Those who excel in their work could end up with a promotion or raise which can lead to even better things. The workers who don't complete their duties accuratley will be likely to get fired or punished in some other way.
A college professor shared a version of this quote with me. He was talking about how many people wanted to be broadcasters and make it big on the radio and, by comparison, how few of them did. He said success in any field was simple: just be the best. (I changed my major from broadcasting to English the next day.)
I agree with this statement. The greatest person in any field is the one that performs the task better than anyone else, and that greatness can only improve if one keeps working. To be successful you shouldn't focus on being the best, you should focus on being better than the people above you, and becoming the best will follow.
I would mostly agree with this quote. If you do better work than everyone in your certain field than you are obviously the best in that field. And if you continue in that field you can only get better. However even if you are the best in your field does that mean that you have achieved "greatness" as the quote implies? Is greatness being the best at something?
I agree with this quote. The best work that is done is that work that is going to get noticed. If you do the best work out of everyone, there will be more opportunities like raises or moving up to a higher position for you. Work that isn't satisfactory or isn't done at all, will most likely get you in trouble and won't be of any benefit to you.
I agree with this quote because you are constantly in competition with people in your field. If you want to succeed, you must out work that person or company to get them to perhaps buy your product or even just hire you. If you keep doing better than your competitors, than people will always want you to do the job.
I agree with this quote because in most cases when fighting to be the best in a competetive job situation, if you do better than everyone else in your field of work and continue to do this, you will succeed and overcome your competitors, rise in power, and gain recgonition in your field.
I agree with this quote.I feel that if you want to succeed in life you need to put 100% forth and become the best that you can be. If you only give half of what you can do, there are others that can be better. You can lose opprotunities and maybe even jobs if you don't work hard enough. It is simple, just work to your full ability and don't lose that work ethic.
I would agree with this quote, because to be the best you have to work harder than everyone else. You have to be more devoted to what you're doing to become better at it, as to eventually be the best. Sometimes bad work slips by unnoticed, because it is so commonplace. However, when someone does their job better than anyone else, or does something that has never been done before, it never goes unnoticed. It stands out because it is rare. It will earn them promotions and opportunities that they wouldn't have had had they not went the extra mile to excel at their job.
I agree to this statement %100. If you are simply the best in your field, finding work should be easy (as long as you are not too demanding, if you like your job that shouldn't be a problem). Just look at current sports, many of the athletes are there simply because they are the best.
I disagree with this quote. I feel that everyone has their own strengths and their own weaknesses. No two people are alike, therefore there is not one "great" person in a certain field, but many great people that work together to perform something "great".
I would agree with this quote because it seems to me that when people work harder they are the most successful and best at what they do. The people that slack off and don't do anything don't always turn out very successful. Hard work always pays off in the end even though it may be difficult and hard while you're doing it.
I agree with this quote because when it comes to my life, I've experienced it that way. Usually the person who knows what they're doing and is the best at that job is the most successful, and they'll get awarded the most. I also agree that they should keep being the best because if they're on top and keep striving, then no one can touch them and they benifit from it.
I agree with this quote because in anything that you do, their will always be someone trying to do better than you. You have to try and outwork ever person that you go against. If you are the best in the postion your in, you will always succed.
I agree with the quote. If you work your hardest and don't let up on yourself, you will surpass those who don't. This will make you the best within that field that you strive to be. However, I agree with Abby as well when she says that everyone is different, and so their strengths and weakness' are a factor.
