Agree or disagree:  "People who work sitting down get paid more than people who work standing up." -- Ogden Nash

  1. I agree with this quote. People who work standing up generally have blue-collar jobs, which don't pay as well as desk jobs. With the exception of professional atheletes' careers (and perhapes teachers who teach standing up), many well-paying jobs consist of sitting in front of a computer all day.

  2. I would agree with this quote for the most part. Comparing, for instance, a CEO who is going to be at a desk (sitting down) for much more of his day than say a construction worker. He is going to make much more than that of a manual laborer. That example, however, is showing two extremes. There very well can be someone who does make more standing up, but in general, based on they typical stereotype of the working world, the quote holds true.

  3. I disagree with this quote. There are good paying jobs in both sitting and standing professions. Take professional athletes for example, who are constantly up and running, and have become some of the most wealthy people in the world. You don't have to be sitting behind a desk for the rest of your life to aquire a comfortable living.

    1. I hadn't thought about the quotation like you did, and your point of view broadened my opinion.

  4. I would agree with this, because manual laborers generally get paid less than people who have office jobs. Most people who work standing up are manual laborers, such as factory workers, garbage men, or fast food workers. Most people who work sitting down have office jobs, such as lawyers, business owners, or company executives.

  5. I agree with this quote because usually workers who do manual labor are not paid as much as people who sit at desks all day. A lot of government jobs are high paying but the people mostly just sit while they work. Other jobs like carpenters, mechanics and plumbers are paid well but not as much as some other professions that require a lot less physical activity.

  6. What he's saying with this quote is that the people who have the desk jobs get paid more then the people who have to work out in the field doing labor. This is ultimately true because white collar workers DO get paid more than blue collar workers. So yes, I do agree with this quote.

  7. I agree with this quote because people who work standing up usually do not have high paying jobs. Typically, high paying jobs are in offices, such as CEO's and company officials.

  8. I agree with this quote. The jobs that normally pay the best are one's that people have earned and are considered white-collar jobs. Even though there are some blue-collar jobs that pay well, in reality the jobs that pay the best are desk jobs. The jobs that are done while sitting at a desk are normally done using more knowledge. Laboring jobs may be hard, but they don't always require difficult thought processes.

  9. I disagree with this quote because professional athletes get paid millions of dollars for the physical talent. Even though there are people that make a good amount of money for desk jobs, I would have to think that athletes are making much more.

  10. I disagree. Celebrities such as: professional athletes, singers/dancers and actors/actresses do not sit during their work and make millions of dollars a year. A performer of any kind is typically running and dancing around the stage, rarely sitting. Athletes work out daily and play in games; always moving around and exercising. The exception is the athletes who sit the bench, but they do stand and rarely sit all day during practice. Actor and actresses are on set/stage doing practically anything, some sitting, some not, but rarely sitting for the whole production, as compared to the typical white collar worker.

  11. I disagree because there are people who are famous who don't do anything but make music, movies, play sports, etc, that get paid way more than someone who stands up and physically has to work to make money.

  12. I agree with this quote, but not completely. While most people who work sitting down probably have a higher paying job than those who work standing up, there are some exceptions. Famous people, for example, such as singers, make more money than the average person makes in a year.
